Cleveland, Ohio – Barnes Wendling CPAs is proud to have one of their own serving on AICPA’s technical issues committee (TIC). Barnes Wendling Director Rosemary Rehner is honored to be one of the CPA practitioners volunteering time to represent the views of local firms and their clients in the standards-setting process. The technical issues committee is comprised of 14 members.

“The opportunity to serve on this committee is a tremendous opportunity to make a difference by providing real-life experiences and feedback on proposed pronouncements which will be affecting our clients and our profession,” says Rehner.

About TIC

The sole purpose of the technical issues committee is to represent the views and be the collective voice of small and medium-sized firms and their clients in the standards-setting process by monitoring and staying updated on technical developments that could significantly affect private companies and the firms that serve them. If appropriate they submit comments and recommendations on behalf of small and medium-sized firms.

To become a member of TIC, a practitioner must be a partner or senior manager in a small- or medium-sized public accounting firm that provides attest services for nonpublic entities; strong technical skills in accounting and attest services, strong communication skills, including the ability to articulate a broad range of technical issues clearly and concisely; and an interest in contributing to the standard-setting process. Expertise in governmental accounting and auditing standards (helpful but not required). Practitioners interested in joining the committee must fill out an application to be reviewed by the AICPA and partake in an interview process.
